We are delighted to announce that our much-loved Plant Lovers’ Day will take place on Saturday 30th May. Now in its eighth year, the 2015 Plant Lovers’ Day will welcome over 28 specialist plant nurseries. A stunning array of flowers, shrubs and trees will be available for gardening enthusiasts from across the county to enjoy.

Creake Abbey prides itself on finding high quality nurseries that offer a wide range of plants and specialisms at affordable prices. Ben Potterton, from Blacksmiths Cottage Nursery grows over 2,000 different species of perennials. Each May his Woodland Bed comes to life with various Anemone Nemerosa, Polygonatum, Asarum, Trillium, Dodecatheon and Primula for sale. Monksilver Nursery will delight visitors with a stunning Ornithogalum Magnificent (a three foot tall, pure white Star of Bethlehem), Aliums such as Christophe, Mount Everest and Gladiator, and a beautiful range of English Iris, Eryngiums and Rhodiola. Hoecroft Plants will bring a wide variety of ornamental grasses, coloured leaved and variegated plants including Physocarpus ‘Diabolo,’ a lovely flowering shrub, and Artemisia ‘Guizhou’ an excellent herbaceous perennial to combine with the variegated upright grass, Calamagrostis ‘Overdam.’
New for 2015, we are delighted to welcome the Escape Project and Friends of Swaffham Orchard. The Friends of Swaffham Orchard, a Heritage Lottery Funded project led by Family Action, promotes gardening, food growing and traditional skills through the regeneration of the Swaffham Community Orchard, and will be selling a wide variety of quality fruit trees. Also new for 2015 are Riverside Bulbs who offer visitors unusual and varied bulbs for all planting seasons. Its high quality, large bulbs are sourced from the best English and Dutch growers. We are delighted to welcome Norfolk Estate Fencing working with local florist Floribunda with metal work for gardens and flowers.
The doors will open at 10am and close at 4pm. Entrance is £3 and there is no charge for children under 16. Once again, profits from the day will go to Wells Community Hospital at Wells-next-the-Sea. The Hospital has been providing health and wellbeing services in Norfolk for more than 100 years. Alongside clinics such as Dentist, Physiotherapy, Audiology, Podiatry and many others, the hospital runs a dementia hub with activities every Wednesday morning and a dementia friendly garden which is open to all. Wells Community Hospital is proud to be working in conjunction with Age UK Norfolk to create a Wells Dementia Friendly Community which is committed to understanding, respecting and supporting people with dementia.
