Live Stargazing Event / Astronomy Masterclass – Tuesday 8th October 2019 7pm – 9:45pm

Tuesday 8th February, 7pm – 9:45pm

Join us at the Café for the second Astronomy Masterclass hosted by expert Astronomer Paul Fellows MA FIET FRAS

£30 per person to include a hot main course. 7pm arrival for sunset and live stargazing outside (please wear warm clothes) 8.30pm supper followed by a talk “The Search for Planet Vulcan” inside the Café.

Come on a tour of the dark sky in the lovely setting of the Creake Abbey grounds. Learn about the moon and planets of our solar system and go beyond to look at some of the hidden treasures that the night sky has to offer at this time of year. You will be guided by expert astronomer Paul Fellows who will show you how to navigate the constellations. Learn to recognise the principle stars, planets and other objects which can be found, and then observe them using a number of different telescopes. If stargazing outside is not possible due to the weather it will be replaced with an indoor screen so that Paul can take you on a virtual tour.

Paul Fellows is chair of the Cambridge Astronomical Association and presenter of the public open nights at the Cambridge University Institute of Astronomy. In 2005 he was elected Fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society. The images above and all the images in Paul’s presentation are his own, taken from his back-garden observatory.
